Where my High Lords at?
I am currently starting ACOSF so please keep any spoilers for that out of this thread.
So I’m a 28M and started reading this series by complete accident. I’m into fantasy and saw this series on Instagram - I didn’t realise it was “smut” lol. Turns out I’m actually enjoying it, but do have some thoughts…
Personally I find Feyre hilarious. I love how a 19 year old with a 10-week crash course in fighting and flying can survive everything thrown at her, including warriors over 500 years old. Her attitude towards money and work is also brilliant. She sits at a desk for 5 minutes, acknowledges how much work she has to do to the point she considers a secretary and then proceeds to open an art studio. Love it.
I feel like Tamlin has been a bit hard done to. His character seems so “weak” compared to the other High Lords, which is a weird contradiction from how he’s portrayed in the first book.
Rhys, Azriel and Cassians friendship is cool. I like how that’s developed and their back story seems consistent with how they are with each other.
This one might be unpopular but I’m not bothered about Nesta or Elaine at all (post Cauldron) . After the Cauldron, both of them seem so boring. Nesta is constantly portrayed as a moody exile who doesn’t offer much to the series now and Elaine is pretty much a nothing character. Shes either baking, being silent or occasionally saying hello to Azriel. I hope their stories develop a bit.
Writing style - this is also hilarious. I love how everyone gives vulgar gestures and hisses. Then there’s the whirling eye, “my Mate”, throats bobbing and things shattering… the repetition is crazy.
How do you other men (or males if we’re keeping to the theme) feel about the series and its characters? Please don’t feel excluded if you’re a woman - let me know if you agree with the above too!
TLDR: A dude likes the series, has some thoughts and wants to know how other dudes feel about the series.
