Home Care is a Joke
So I’m sure this will get down voted into oblivion because “nurses are over worked/under staffed”, but after ending up in the ER twice in the last 12 months due to incompetence, I really don’t care any more
I had a invasive operation Feb 9th, where I had an 8.5” incision in my upper abdomen to remove my gallbladder (fused to my liver), liver ducts repaired etc (because they just yolo’d my gallbladder 17 years ago and left it there after removing stones and not following up once even with my chasing them)
Any way to the point:
Surgery was fine, went home after 5 days.. 6 days later the incision starts leaking… have a large seroma.. surgeons team also noticed it was infected and they re-opened the ends, and set me up on home care visits to clean it, change the packing, change the dressing etc..
First two nights? No show … they just never added me to the schedule
Next 3 nights mostly fine
See surgeon Thursday, remove the rest of the staples order home care to come 2x a day as infections not clearing up as well as they hoped
Friday : no one shows up, chase them down and after an hour and a half on the phone they finally send someone.. k great I guess
This morning: guy comes, did what needed to be done leaves.. 2 hours later get a call from the supervisor saying no one was going to be there this morning, shocked some one has and said they’d be back late this afternoon
Didn’t show up, call again.. I’m not even on the schedule for tomorrow and I’m only down for once a day, despite them confirming Friday they had the order for 2x a day, and the nurse this morning having a copy of the order from hsc saying twice a day
And I’m supposed to avoid urgent care/ER due to being immune compromised (HSC’s recommendation ) and home care is also supposed to be be monitoring the incision as the tunnel under it re opened
If I required critical care at this point I’d probably be dead
