[SOTC] Turned 30 Today, what’s next?
Just turned 30 today and wanted to share my collection as it stands - amazing how much can change in a few years! What started with a thoughtful Raymond Weil gift from my parents after college has evolved into a collection that I couldn’t have imagined.
Here's what's in the box:
Omega x Swatch MoonSwatch "Mission to Space": A fun piece that I got before getting the Silver Snoopy. Don’t wear it all too much anymore, but a fun piece to have and great way to mix it up.
Omega Speedmaster "Silver Snoopy Award" 50th Anniversary: This may be my favorite piece in the collection for daily wear. Just an incredible dial and caseback. I never knew the dial itself would be so beautiful with the galvanized silver, but a great piece.
A. Lange & Söhne 1815 Up/Down: This is definitely my favorite watch for celebrations and events. The craftsmanship of Lange never ceases to amaze me - from the immaculate dial to the stunning movement finishing. This piece represents reaching significant career milestones and my appreciation for fine watchmaking.
Tudor Black Bay 58: The perfect daily wear tool watch that I just got a week back. Figured it’s not practical to rock the Lange and Snoopy daily. I’m excited to have this versatile, vintage-inspired piece to my rotation.
Cartier Santos Dumont: This piece is close to heart as I bought it during a trip with friends to Mallorca. Although it doesn’t get as much wrist time anymore, it’s a classic and goes well in both casual and dressy settings.
Bonus pieces: - Raymond Weil: Where it all began. A graduation gift that sparked this journey. - Apple Watch: For fitness tracking and those times when practicality wins. - Not pictured: My trusted Casio which is lurking somewhere in a backpack!
Looking back at my journey from my first career steps to where I am now at 30, this collection helps me mark both personal milestones and my evolving appreciation for watches - from accessible pieces to high complications.
- What would you add to round out this collection? Given the range from the Speedy to Lange, I'm curious what you think would complement these pieces. Currently considering to get a Grand Seiko and also on the waitlist with my AD for a Pepsi GMT.
- If you had to remove one piece to make room for something new, which would it be and why? (can’t pick the Moonswatch or Raymond Weil - low hanging fruit!)
Thank you in advance and wishing everybody in this community a very happy new year !
