"Washington is red outside of seattle". Not so fast.

We've all heard that "Washington is red outside of seattle". So i did some research and the reality is thats not true. Outside of the entirety of seattle Metro the state is extremely 50/50. We would be the most swing state in the country pretty much. Here's how the presidential elections since 2000 would've gone in washington if the Seattle metro (king, Pierce, and snohomish counties) were removed:

2024: Harris: 937,735, 48.2% Trump: 929,165, 47.7%

2020: Biden: 956,068, 48.4% Trump: 951,326, 48.1%

2016: Trump: 730,279, 46.4% Clinton: 666,631, 42.3%

2012: Romney: 733,487, 49% Obama: 712,446, 47.6%

2008: Obama: 733,500, 49.5% McCain: 711,105, 48%

2004: Bush: 718,751, 53% Kerry: 615,124, 45.3%

2000: Bush: 607,647, 51.7% Gore: 503,091, 42.8%

Washington would be the ONLY state in the country to swing left in 2024 Washington would be the only state in the country to vote trump in 2016 but not again Washington would have the longest streak of any state in the country without someone getting 50% of the vote (Bush in 2004). Since 2000, Republicans win 4 and democrats win 3 elections Since 2008, democrats win 3 and Republicans win 2 elections.
