Volvo handling, SUV vs. sedan

I know that a sedan will always handle better than an SUV, but after years with a Hyundai Santa Fe, I just don't want to drive an SUV anymore. The handling sucks, I miss driving a sedan.

I test drove a Volvo sedan and SUV but it wasn't enough to really make me confident. An SUV would be better for me, but I don't want to be stuck with shitty handling for years. I've heard that Volvos handle very nicely. Can the handling of a Volvo SUV compare for example to the handling of a cheaper sedan, say a Toyota?
