I think many people confuse looking old with simply being unkempt.
I recently realized there are a few physical details that people conflate with looking old but are instead signs of being disheveled. These are the examples I could think of that drastically make a difference in one’s own appearance:
1.) Chapped lips. Having dehydrated, cracked lips is a major NO. Having an overnight treatment on and keeping them luscious and hydrated during the day makes you look so much healthier. 2.) MESSY HAIR. OMG. I recently had a very bad hair day where my locks were frizzy, fried seeming, and I resembled a puff-ball. I was at Marshall’s when this girl with sleek, beautiful hair stood next to me and I was ironically in the mirrors section and I couldn’t help but laugh! Her hair was elegant and mine was a mess. It elevates not only your appearance to have beautiful, healthy hair but demonstrates attention to detail, which is subliminally admirable. She made an effort and I didn’t. 3.) Your nails are important. I don’t believe you need to have fake/press on nails to look good. What matters is that they don’t impede everyday tasks and look clean and healthy. I have to say (this is subjective) that I prefer the look of natural nails. They look more refined. If you’re going to be without nail polish, keep them cut, filed, clean, and even. 4.) This 1 is obvious but your skin. Address your skin concerns before you ever do anything else. I have a friend who was struggling on and off with acne for a number of years now and is finally almost acne free and it elevated her so much. Her makeup looks better, her confidence went up, and the acne being gone makes her radiate a more approachable energy because she’s not attempting to hide behind her hair anymore. It’s not just the skin on your face but your skin everywhere! Remember to moisturize from head to toe.
Feel free to add more you guys <3
