Warning about Rent Athens
Hi all, just thought I'd share a warning about using rent athens because I don't want anyone else to have the same experience as me (especially incoming grad students who can't tour properties beforehand). I understand that they have multiple properties and owners and each property varies, but I have had the worst rental experience of my life thus far with the property I am renting. I did a video tour of the unit as I was living hours away when I signed-- and when I moved in this August I was appalled. The unit was infested with bugs, had rotten floors, had not been cleaned or repainted, and the previous tenant had left belongings that had not been moved out. The fridge was broken and filled with bugs, and it took them 3 weeks to get me a new one. It is an old house but it clearly has not been maintained with even a modicum of care. When I submit maintenance requests, they take literal months to respond if they even respond at all, and I am frequently told that I am responsible for repairs. I have lived all over the world in various environments in properties that don't have running water or electricity, that have been better maintained than this. If you must rent from Rent Athens, I recommend a DETAILED in person tour and expect to move into a place that the management/individual owner does not care about maintaining at all. I am counting down the months until I can move out.
