please look both ways before crossing the street

I don't think everyone who needs to hear this is on this subreddit, but for what it's worth -- if you're a pedestrian, please stop and check for oncoming vehicles before you duck out into a street. cars and bikes need some sort of signal from you that you're going to cross the street, so that they have enough time to react and slow to a stop. I'm saying this because I often see people walking along a sidewalk and crossing into the street without pausing or looking first. this is dangerous for everyone involved, and it only takes a second to look.

side note, thank you to the two guys who helped me get my bike and belongings out of the street after wiping out from trying to swerve around a pedestrian. I really appreciate it :] have a good day everyone
