'Songs of Innocence' is not that bad.
I don't get the amount of hate thrown at that album. It's never up to par to with their early works and indeed has some lazy pop production going on, but it's rock and roll enough for me to appreciate and enjoy. Furthermore, it's the most personal, emotional work they've ever put out, I can never learn about their experience of growing up in Ireland as much as from any other album. The album is an invitation to their innermost recess from U2, if you wanna read U2 like a book, then this is it, it's the go-to album.
And If I have to be completely honest, 'California (There is No End To Love)' is the only song that makes me believe in love and is my most played song on Spotify of all time. I can easily get choked up listening.
