Found someone IRL based on their reddit profile.

This post is not meant to shame anyone. I have this person's consent to post this so that we can warn more girls.

I spend a lot of time on reddit and like reading up on specific topics. I tend to follow some people on reddit whose posts/comments I like so I follow a bunch of people. I found someone who had some interesting ideas, and on going through her profile, I found she had posted a lot of personal information. This included her work, college and some family details. The curious owl in me couldn't control because this was TMI but I let it go. In a similar way, I found someone else's profile, who interestingly posted the same ideas.

I connected the dots and before I knew it, I had someone's main, their alt and their real life identity in no time. I connected with her, and confirmed all the details. She didn't realize she was giving away so much. She has probably deleted much of that content now and I am sure she'll be more careful in the future.

But this could have been anyone else. We all know by now that this sub is not safe because of tons of larpers, creeps etc, and the last thing we would want is someone infringing on our privacy.

Girlies out there, please be careful! Do not post any PII (Personally identifiable information) anywhere on the internet. There are a million ways to find out who someone is. For those seeking solutions to their personal problems, fake some details. Stay safe out there!
