Taking my 22-year-old daughter Friday for an IUD. Would appreciate any info on your experiences - hormonal vs. non hormonal.
UPDATE—-/—
She had the iud appointment yesterday at PP and the staff was so kind. She had zero pain meds and only mild cramps during the insertion that lasted about 3 minutes. Zero bleeding and we even went shopping for a few hours before making the 1.5 hour commute home. No pain or bleeding still as of this morning. She’s THRILLED!
We are in Texas and worry about losing access to birth control. She will have cervical pain relief before insertion. Appointment is at Planned Parenthood.
— THANK YOU to everyone for all of your comments and advice. I never expected such a large response. I have read every comment and I think that She has chosen a hormonal IUD but she plans to discuss all aspects with the doctor on Friday. I will update after the appointment. She had a breast reduction 3.5 years ago and still has about 10 Soma pills so we will ask the doctor about using them after the procedure if necessary. THANK YOU ALL! 💙
