I am disappointed by the Christmas presents I received.
I (21 F) have come to the realization that I am disappointed and hurt by the presents I received for Christmas this year.
This year I am spending Christmas with my mother's family, which consists of six people: my mother, her brother, his wife, my grandmother, and my mother's fiancé.
Although I am a full-time university student, I also work as I have been living independently since I was sixteen.
This Christmas, I purchased at least two presents for each family member, as I love giving gifts, especially those with sentimental value. However, I received only two gifts in total—socks from my mother and pajamas from my uncle and aunt.
I do not wish to compare the monetary value of the gifts, as that is not what I consider important. They inquired about my Christmas wishes, and I provided them with a list that included Sims 4 expansion packs, a mousepad, and a phone case. Despite this, I did not receive anything from my list, nor did I receive presents from everyone at the table.
This is disheartening, especially given the thought and effort I put into selecting more than two gifts for each person, ensuring they would appreciate and enjoy them.
EDIT:
Just to clarify certain things.
- Money is not an issue. They are all doctors.
- I was the youngest at the table.
- I wasn’t disappointed I didn’t get a lot, I am disappointed because no effort was put into the presents I received.
- They all got each other many present some even reaching the amount of 500€.
I will not match their effort as that would make me far more sad and I would be disappointed in myself as that does not reflect who I am.
