Do we need to keep the 10 commandments

I’m just kind of confused ( new Christian here) in the New Testament the new commandment is to love others like Jesus loves us and that would include all the commandments. I read passages that state the commandments from the Old Testament in the New Testament. But I realized that there are some Christian’s that hate the 10 commandments and say we don’t need to keep them and if we try to then we are only reminded of sin and it’s not good. Just my stance is I think it’s a good thing to know the 10 commandments and I think it’s a good thing to try to keep them. Yes we will break them but it’s a great reference in life. Just don’t get it and need some insight
