How do Christians reconcile Adam and Eve, Noah’s Ark, and the Tower of Babel with the existence of different races and evolution? Sorry for the long post in advance, I am just lost and stressed out
I’ve been thinking a lot about the stories of Adam and Eve, Noah’s Ark, and the Tower of Babel in the Bible, and I’m confused about how they fit with what we know about the world today—especially things like evolution and the diversity of races and cultures (Black, Hispanic, Japanese, etc.).
If Adam and Eve were the first people, and Noah’s family were the only survivors after the flood, how do we explain the existence of so many different groups of people across the world? I know the Bible isn’t meant to be a science or history book, but I’m struggling to understand how these stories are interpreted alongside things like evolution and anthropology.
Are these stories meant to be taken literally, symbolically, or in some combination of both? I’ve looked around but haven’t found a clear answer that resolves this for me. I’d love to hear how others understand or approach this topic.
