Originally Elena in the books was blonde. That also spoked about her character, she was popular at school, a queen bee, self-absorbed, vain… but then eventually she becomes more selfless and very dramatic persona.

What do You think about that? In the series they made her perfect from the beginning, which is why any change of character was a ride downhill…
