Did the writers Make stefan bad so we could get Delena?

I could smell the delena ship brewing andi think the writers wanted Stelena to not make sense anymore so all of a sudden, stefan had become a ripper and ew Nasty writing I also don't like how Bonnie is always sidelined, maybe i wouldn't finish the show.
