Carb stone racking arm?

Ok never done this had to use a tank without a carbstone in it. Trying to carb through the racking arm, I swear I have seen it done before. When I run co2 through the stone it just pushes all the beer out of the sight glass “ kinda makes sense “ and with my ear up to the tank it is just bubbling through the beer if that makes sense. What I do wrong “ other than not having a stone in the tank “
