Subarus are one of the easiest vehicles to DIY and Repair

People and mechanics are like "oohh im scared of a little subarue.. they are soo difficult to work on". No they are not. Subaru uses the same parts in every vehicle for 10 years before they change the part. So once you know 1 subaru, you know them all. That means everyone knows how subarus break down. 1) changing breaks are super easy. Its 4 bolts, 2 on the bracket and 2 on the caliper. 2) oil changes, since 2013, the oil filter is on top of the engine. 3) spark plus are not difficult. Remove the battery and the airfilter housing unit and get a angle piece for your rachet. I did mine for the first time. And it took less than 2 hours yesterday. 4) for mechanics ball joints are easy to replace since subaru hasnt changed theirs in like 30 years. Subaru impreza/crosstreks are basically the same thing. Legacy/outbacks are the same thing. If you look at the engine and underbody from a subaru 30 years ago, it will be basically the same style as a subaru today. 4 cyl boxer engine with their standard awd system. And subarus dont eeally have electrical break downs compared to say dodge vehicles.
