UK bank to Thai bank via PayPal

I get paid from British clients from their UK bank to my UK bank (Monzo, starling, chase) and I’ll transfer this using “Xoom” and PayPal usually with 0 issues bar the expensive conversion rate. The last 3 days I’ve gone to transfer money over and it’s instantly declined by each of my banks. The banks inform me that the rules are being updated (assume more conversion charges) but has now left me with money left in my British bank account and being unable to complete transaction here in Thailand. Could anyone shed some light on this? Or even suggest a better/cheaper way to transfer from the west to a Thai bank!? Thank you 🙏🏻
