Techno in Barcelona (My recommendations)

Updated: 27/06/2024

I have been living in Barcelona for several years but this last year I have entered more and more into techno clubs and some events that are worth going. Barcelona has very good places, there are some that you visited and others that you can not but I could definitely recommend them for good references.

If you are looking for some techno in Barcelona I can recommend the following clubs:

Input

This is another jewel in Barcelona. The sound is incredible and will blow your mind (haha). The place is amazing, and the quality of the events is quite good. It is located in a well-connected area. Sometimes the guards can be a little rude. I think it has the best sound system in the city.

Pro Tip: Check the Xceed app or Dice app. You can get really cheap tickets, and I recommend getting them in advance.
Crowd: Depends on the day or DJ. Sometimes it's trashy, sometimes it can be queer. Normally, it is a safe space for anyone.

Razzmatazz

Quite famous in the city and one of the biggest clubs. They have a large techno room and other spaces with different types of music in case you decide to change the environment at some point. You can get tickets at a reduced price if you take the flyer samples of the event (they post them on Facebook and Instagram). Right next to this place, you have the "Ovella Negra," where you can drink beer at a very cheap price. It is always too full, both Razzmatazz and Ovella Negra, which is why I don't go so often. Definitely not the best sound, but sometimes you can catch really good DJs playing there.

Nitsa Club/Apolo

This one is my favorite. Really good DJs and parties, with plenty of bars and restaurants in the area. The quality of the sound and lighting isn't like Input, but it's still really good. Sometimes this club has great DJs like Dixon, Barnt, Honey Dijon, Skatebard, Sama, Chaos in the CBD, Palms Trax, and other good headliners.
Pro Tip: If you're into queer parties, you can go on Sunday to ChocoChurros. Sometimes they have techno, and sometimes just pop music (do your research).

Moog This one is more "underground" (though still famous in the city), with good local and international DJs from the underground scene. It has a lot of dark vibes and the sound system is pretty decent.

+House Bonus:

La Terrrazza: If you're into house, you should check this one out. You can find really good local and international (less known) DJs.
Crowd: Not my type of people; a lot of drunk people with white sneakers and shirts. (Depends on the DJ)

Sala Bikini:

Good local and international DJs, with a lot of Melodic Techno and House. The club has a nice and trippy vibe, and you can get really cheap tickets.

+Festival Bonus:

Sonar:

The oldest festival. It attracts a lot of locals and tourists. It's a nice festival where you can find many different genres. It's a good one.

OffSonar:

Parties during the Sonar festival week: Usually held in Poble Espanyol, featuring a lot of Melodic Techno and House, (Adriatique, Amelie Lens, Keinemusik). These parties attract many locals as well as tourists.

Duro Festival:

A great Techno festival, it's relatively new and I think it's in its 3rd year. It's not that far from the city and you can find some really good local and international DJs, like 999999999 or Shlomo

About the tickets:

In Barcelona there are many apps to get tickets for parties, sometimes with discounts and other times free or reduced price before 1AM.

I recommend using the xceed or Dice app, see the club and the lineup also Resident Advisor as usual. Totally reliable.

Saturday/Sunday events:

In the spring / summer season there are usually events like OFFSonar, SoundEat, Brunch In Barcelona. (From 4pm to 10PM)

Sometimes you can find techno, house, melodic techno, or just bussiness.

None of this is advertising, I just want to share some of my favorite places in Barcelona for those looking to spend an excellent weekend. There are other places I could recommend but I have not visited them as soon as I do, I will share my experience.

Final recommendation: Barcelona is a safe city but there are many "pickpockets" you should make sure you take care of your valuable things.

If someone has any other suggestions of places to go in Barcelona, let me know I would like to know new places and if you live in the city and want to party... Let me know. ;)

Avoid: Pacha, Opium and every club around the Barceloneta. You can check Pacha if there is a really good house dj and, you can get free tickets sometimes but not my kind of place.

About tourism:

It's Barcelona. You will find tourist everywhere. My advice is check the lineup before.
