Pools bring out the worst people* (during the pandemic)
Tl;Dr: people don't understand that a virus ravaging the planet will affect your pool access.
I work the front desk at a major chain hotel. For nearly a decade the pool has never been a problem. People were (mostly) respectful and generally well behaved. Now that COVID is a thing, the people who come here for the pool have to be some of the most entitled, trashy, and stuck up people I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with. Do they not realize why we have strict pool rules? There's a highly contagious VIRUS plaguing our lands and you think that you should go for a swim now?!
I can't count the amount of times a guest complained that they would never have come to our hotel if they'd known about our pool restrictions, even though our pool has some of the most lax restrictions in our area. They'll yell. They'll scream. They'll throw a FIT in our lobby with their children beside them for half an hour. They'll tell us we ruined their child's birthday party (WHY ARE YOU THROWING A PARTY IN A PANDEMIC). It's ridiculous.
