"Hidden" lyrics within the actual lyrics
I don't think it's a secret for Swifties of how Taylor hides lyrics within her lyrics?
The official lyrics inside the CD booklet (or lyric videos/streaming platforms) say one thing, but when you listen closely, it totally sounds like something else?
A few examples:
- In August: "meet me behind the mall" sounds like "meet me behind them all" or "wanting was enough" > "one thing was enough"
- In loml: "'cause something counterfeit's dead" > "cause something cannot face death"
- In How did it end?: "my beloved ghost and me" > "my beloved ghosted me"
It's like she’s intentionally leaving us alternative meanings, making her songs even more layered and open to interpretation.
What are your favorite examples of this? Do you think it’s intentional, or just Swiftie brains working overtime?
P.S. Do you think she’ll ever acknowledge these hidden gems? Or is it just her way of keeping us guessing forever? 😏
