If you could make a Taylor album with 10-15 existing songs in her discography, what would it be?
There has been a lot of discussion on how Taylor's tracklists are sometimes a bit clunky, particularly with newer albums like Lover, Midnights and TTPD. If you could pick Taylor songs from different albums that all emulated a particular vibe sonically or somehow fit together, what would the tracklist look like?
For me, I'd say:
- State of Grace
- gold rush
- Starlight
- Treacherous
- august
- Snow On The Beach
- Labyrinth
- Slut!
- Run
- Holy Ground
- Daylight
- This Love
- Suburban Legends
I do realise most of these songs are from Red and 1989, but I just love this particular genre of Taylor songs, with the mix between soft, somewhat dreamy and yet punchy energy.
I'd probably market this how 1989 TV was marketed, as a beach album (1989 has always been a city album in my head lol). Maybe this would quite literally be more like a snow on the beach album because the sound has that kind of balance.
I'd call the album Suburban Legends/Nothing Safe Is Worth The Drive and it would rotate around "my life would be ruined", "eyes like sinking ships on water", "love is a ruthless game", "oh no, i'm falling in love", "this slope is treacherous" etc etc. Like falling in love while accepting its inevitable recklessness, and not just exploring its fallacies but somewhat romanticising them, kind of like what Red (the album) and Wildest Dreams do.
I'm interested to know what you guys would make!
