Help reviving Carl's starter please

Hello! I tried and failed over the summer to make my own starter, so I sent away for Carl Griffith's starter. I rehydrated Saturday night. Sunday around 10:30 am, I fed 1/4cup water and eyeballed flour until it was pancake consistency. After about 5 hours with minimal bubbles and no rise,it felt very wet, so I added a spoon of dark rye and more flour until it was thicker. At about 8pm, I saw it had risen about 25ish percent. At 11 pm, it looked doubled.

This morning at 9am, it looks the same. I can see it has deflated some but not down towards the starting line. It has a smell, I cant really say its acetone, maybe its vineger? My husband couldn't name the smell either.

Should I discard and feed? Dont discard and feed because it's only day 2ish if reviving? Flour is KA bread flour, water is from a 5 gallon jug from the store. House is set to 70 degrees but has cold spots so I kept the jar in a cabinet by the stove. Thank you in advance for any assistance!
