What's the deal with 16 Gauge?

I got a bunch of 16 Gauge ammo for free and learning very quickly that there are not many options for 16 guage shotguns. Mostly Semi autos for $1000+...are there any options for a cheaper 16G in the $500 range? I just want something cheap to blow things up with for my YouTube...what would you do with this ammo? Convert to 12 or 20 guage? Maybe a 12g to 16g barrel converter attachment?
