We need your insight

My fiancé and I recently purchased a property in a recreational area. Through the transaction the previous owner mentioned that he knows a guy that will be able to clear our land for us and build a well.. potentially even a small cabin. (Although not really legal but ok).

So of course, we are so excited about this because the property had a LOT of brush and just needed some space for us to camp on and also have a gun range.

My fiancé paid $1,000 to clear the property…..

Then he sold us on bringing out 35 telephone poles? And also a well and a platform.

I mean I know that he sold us on it but he has been lying to us. He told me that he went out March 6th and spent 12 hours doing work on my property such as (he supposedly brought a pallet of rock out there, needed to redrill the well?? How did he know where we wanted the well? I went today March 17th, nothing has been done.

I have sent him a more than 5k

My fiancé and I are 26 and 27 year old hard working individuals.

I believe him biting off more than he could chew convinced us to proceed. Moreover, we believed him.
