Lump Sum x 2?

I’ve not received an official award letter yet. However I spoke to a very nice gentleman at the National SSA number yesterday, who confirmed various amounts like monthly payment, start date, and back pay. We had a little conversation about my situation and the financial stress it has put on me and my family. I mean, I’m 48 living with my 80 year old parents who planned their retirement based on 2 people, not three.

Ok. So I woke up this morning with half of my backpay amount in my account!

I rang the local office to see/confirm that this amount is only half of my backpay.

She’s having to ring me back, but thinks that when your back payment amount is larger due to waiting a VERY long time period, that they split it in half.

Anyone have similar situation with 2 back payments?
