Bitches, what are we tipping on $$$ hair services?

Hey BWT! I am on the hunt for a new hairstylist (my old stylist in the peninsula is moving away 😢) and found one at Population Salon that I'm really excited about.

I'm no stranger to paying a premium for my hair (old stylist was $500 for full highlight, cut, and blowout) and I only get my hair done once a year, so I don't mind a little splurge.

But, this is my first time going to a new hairstylist in ~12 years and my first time in SF proper — I want to make sure I'm not undertipping. A full highlight, cut, and blowout with this new stylist starts at $690. Is the expectation to tip 20% on top of that? For reference, he's not the salon owner but is a Master Stylist (the highest tier, after the owner).
