ASICS Superblast 2 - First Run - As a slower and heavier than most runner

M28, 5ft10 (178cm) 92kg (203lbs). HM 2hr20, 10k 60:36, 5k 27:51.

Took these for a 10km treadmill run, at differing easy to moderate paces. 7min/km, 6:40min/km and 6min/km.

As somebody who has only recently gotten into running seriously over the last 6 months after running every now and again without much structure, I really did fall for the SB2 hype. I managed to get my hands on a pair of these over the weekend as soon as they came available to purchase here in the UAE. I went with a UK 8.5, which is 0.5 above my street size which is a UK8. I have only owned one other pair of running shoes before this, the Novablast 4s, which I got in a UK9 and I believe these may be slightly too big for me as I've suffered with heel slippage and blistering/hot spot issues.

The fit on these are amazing, they are very comfy. As somebody who didn't own a pair of the SB1s, I unfortunately can't compare the two. What I can say is that the upper is comfy, breathable and caused me no issues whatsoever. I do believe that going 0.5 up from your regular street size in these is the best way to go.

I've never owned a running shoe with a "super-foam" in the midsole, but what I can say is that FFTurbo+ is absolutely fantastic. The response I was getting after every foot strike was absolutely phenomenal, and I fully get the buzz with these things. I know that these are going to be my long-run workhorse when I begin prep for my first Marathon, which will be the Dubai Marathon in January.

After the run, I didn't have any blistering or hotspots. My legs today, the day after this run feel fantastic and refreshed like I could go out and do the same run again today, if not more milage.

I can't wait to get these out for a long-run on the road, which at the moment is impossible given the ridiculously high temps here at the moment in the UAE.
