Las Vegas centered books that are NOT woke up married
I'm going to Las Vegas for a work trip in a couple of weeks and it got me in the mood for books set in Vegas. I searched the sub but most seem to be centered on the woke up married or accidentally married trope. While I can enjoy that trope, it's not what I'm looking for because those books usually aren't primarily set in Vegas.
I'd love it if the city itself was an important part of the story. It's great when stories really make you feel like they couldn't be set anywhere else but where they are.
I'd really prefer it if the FMC is in her 30s at least and not bratty or contrary just to show how 'independent' she is. Dark-ish is okay as long as there isn't any noncon and MMC isn't a super alphahole, especially to the FMC. Scorsese's Casino vibes would be cool. Makeovers for a big night out or shopping sprees are always fun, especially if the character leans into it and doesn't feel guilty.
I imagine most books set in Las Vegas are contemporary, but I'd kill for some historicals set in the early years or Rat Pack era.
Also, if one of MCs happens to have a cat, that's a super plus (cause I'm a cat lady and all of the books I've read recently have been dog heavy.)
