New "national VA mandate" resulting in increased call schedule?

Hi, I'm posting here because I'm having trouble getting answers from anybody in my program.

Has anybody heard of a new "national VA mandate" that prohibits residents from taking call at VA and non-VA facilities concurrently starting July 1? Essentially, we have been told our call schedule is being split and will result in an overall increase in call frequency (and likely other schedule changes).

The residents who I know and have spoken to in other departments at my institution happen not to cover the VA, so they don't know anything about this. However, the friends I have at outside institutions who do cover the VA say they're unaware of any changes. I also don't know how many programs would be able to accommodate this new rule, especially if they're already call-heavy and at their max duty hours.

Any insight on this matter? If so, how are your programs approaching this and changes to the call schedule/frequency? I appreciate the help.
