1.5 MONTH REALME GT 6 FULL PERSONAL REVIEW:

Realme GT 6 12GB/256GB Review

  1. First Impressions

I got my Realme GT 6 after a ton of research and asking all over Reddit. At first, I wanted to get the Xiaomi X6 Pro for around 300 euros, but somehow I doubled my budget and ended up with this one for 520 euros. I was actually planning to get the OnePlus 12R, but I changed my mind at the last minute—literally like 20 minutes before ordering—because the Realme felt like a more balanced phone.

I was super excited because this is the most expensive thing I’ve ever bought, coming from my 4-year-old Samsung M21 that cost like 180 euros. I had super high expectations because all the reviews were positive, and the phone just looked like a beast. But honestly, when I unboxed it, I felt kind of let down.

  1. Design and Build Quality

Unboxing & First Impressions

The unboxing was just... bad. There was no satisfying experience at all. When I pulled the phone out and flipped it over, I was shocked. The design looked awful to me. For the first week, I legit thought this was one of the ugliest phones ever.

Build Quality

The build quality didn’t feel cheap at all, but since I’ve never used a glass phone before, I guess I expected more? It’s slippery as hell too—I can’t use it without a case because it would just slip right out of my hands.

Getting Used to It

For the first 20 days, I still hated how it looked. Over time, I didn’t start loving it, but I just got used to it. It doesn’t look good or bad to me anymore. One thing though, it’s a fingerprint magnet, and the coating gets scratched super easily. I’ve been crazy careful with it (even putting it on a microfiber cloth instead of the table), and it STILL has scratches.

  1. Display

First Look

When I first saw the display, I was a bit disappointed. The curved edges looked dim, and it kinda bugged me at first. But after some quick research, I found out that’s just how curved screens are. Now, I don’t notice it anymore unless I really look for it.

Performance

The display itself is really good. At 1080p, I can’t notice any difference compared to 1.5K displays, so I don’t think that’s something you “need.” It gets super bright too, but not as much as the marketing makes it seem. It’s just bright enough for everything. The colors are nice, and overall, I’m happy with the display.

  1. Performance

Honestly, I don’t have any complaints here. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 performs like a champ. I’ve played Call of Duty for hours, and there’s been no throttling or heating. Normal use feels smooth as butter.

The only time I’ve seen lag is on apps like AliExpress, but that’s not the phone’s fault—it’s just bad app optimization. Overall, the performance is amazing, and I’m super happy with it.

  1. Software (Realme UI 5)

The Realme UI 5 is actually pretty decent. It’s not One UI level (I came from One UI 6), but it’s clean, smooth, and doesn’t feel bloated. There are no ads, and I didn’t notice any unnecessary pre-installed apps.

That said, I wish it had more customization options like One UI’s Good Lock modules. Also, third-party launchers like Nova have some weird lag, which is apparently an issue on most Android phones now.

The AI features are fine, but there aren’t that many. The AI eraser is cool, but you don’t really use it that much. The software is good overall, just not as polished as One UI.

  1. Battery Life

Here’s where the problems start. The battery life is just bad. Coming from the Samsung M21, this feels like a massive downgrade. The GT 6 barely lasts a day with normal use, even on power-saving mode.

I can get 7 hours of screen-on time max if I don’t game. If I do, it’s more like 5.5 hours. With GT mode on, it’s even worse—around 4 hours of screen-on time. Standby drain is also terrible. One day, I went from 100% to 0% with just 2 hours of screen-on time, and all I did was listen to Spotify.

This is easily the most disappointing part of the phone for me.

  1. Camera

I’m not really a camera person, so I don’t have much to say here. From what I can tell, the camera is pretty good. Night and low-light shots are surprisingly impressive. It’s not perfect, but it’s definitely better than most phones in this price range.

  1. Audio Quality

The audio quality is actually really good. The dual speakers are loud and sound great. The mic quality is also nice, but only when using the native recorder app. For some reason, on apps like WhatsApp or Discord, the mic quality drops a lot.

I wish it had a headphone jack, though. I really miss that.

  1. Connectivity

No issues here at all. 5G works perfectly fine, and Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS have all been solid. I’ve never had any connectivity problems with this phone.

  1. Value for Money

Here’s the thing—at 520 euros, I think it’s overpriced. I got it on Black Friday, and even then, I feel like it should’ve been around 450 euros. The normal retail price is 560 euros, and for that price, it’s just not worth it.

What makes it worse is that the phone doesn’t even come with a charger. In India, this phone costs less AND comes with a charger. Meanwhile, I had to use my old slow charger because Realme couldn’t include one in the box. That part really annoyed me.

Also, the OnePlus 12R, which is 50 euros cheaper and has 16GB of RAM, comes with a charger. I still think the Realme GT 6 is better overall, but at this price, I feel like they’re ripping us off a bit.

  1. Conclusion

Overall, I’d say the Realme GT 6 is OK. Not amazing, not terrible—just fine. The display, performance, and cameras are good, but the battery life is a huge letdown. The missing charger and high price make it feel overpriced.

I’d recommend this phone over other options in this price range, but I was hoping for so much more, so I can’t help but feel disappointed.
