Need advice for using tools more effectively?

I need advice on using CS gas or Stingers for room clearing.

My specific issue is clearing rooms with stressed/alerted suspects aiming at the door. I will get instantly shot if I open the door to nade. Peeking the door causes me to throw my nade in a bad spot.
