Can't let go of cannon autism

"I want to finally get around to reading Borges, oh what's that, I need to be familiar with spanish literature to truly appreciate his writing? And I should be familiar with modernism, ancient Greek literature, existentialist philosophy, biblical literature, Kafka and spinoza? Ok I guess I'll just try to finish reading the Bible, Borges can wait"

This happens with so many authors and books that I want to get into, it makes sense with philosophy but I can't get rid of this mindset when engaging with literature too. Help
