[QCrit] Dark Epic Fantasy - THE LAMENTATIONS OF SCARLET BLADES (118k, 3rd attempt)
Hello wonderful people!
My humble thanks to everyone who helped me so far. Your graciousness warms my heart.
Here is my 3rd attempt. The agents I aim for, mention they want a single paragraph for the blurb, so here goes:
___
Dear (Agent)
(Personal reason for reaching out). I am seeking representation for my book THE LAMENTATIONS OF SCARLET BLADES, a standalone dark epic fantasy complete at 118.000 words with series potential.
Despite the monstrous threats beyond their fortified walls, the city-kingdoms enjoy a time of prosperity. Karver, a sergeant serving at his kingdom’s borders, is on a path of revenge after a flood of eldritch beasts massacres everyone in his camp. With the help of a fierce female warrior named Yakinthi, he discovers the one responsible behind the attack: Archduke Amarys; a man so powerful, he only answers to the crown. As he seeks help, lords betray him and the kingdom’s high authorities dismiss his warnings of the impending danger. Karver faces a cannibalistic death-cult, travels across the known sea, and discovers the Archduke is planning a full scale invasion that puts the kingdom he serves in grave danger. And the key element in his plan is the blood of Yakinthi, who he’s fallen in love with. All of it.
The gritty world with an emphasis on characterization, and dark humor will appeal to fans of Christopher Buehlman’s The Blacktongue Thief. The epic scale will appeal to fans of We Are the Dead by Mike Shackle and Aching God by Mike Shel.
