How good is PLA plastic for printing?

So I know a place in my city that lets you rent out a printer, and plus I don't have the space in my apartment for one. However, it can only use PLA plastic. Is it any good? Also, can you use a PLA printer to print out a resin file? I'm a noob to all this, so please explain simply!
