The Aunt Petunia cover story
Im not sure if anyone had talked about this, and I meant to make a post sooner but forgot.
I love how the cover story for the Featherington having money again is Aunt Petunia has died and left them money. Varley questions Portia on this, suggesting it’s not really a believable story given that Petunia appeared to be a penniless spinster. Portia says something to the effect of “for all anyone knows, she could have been storing jars of coin under her floorboards.”
It’s a clever little line, given that in the end, it is a (former) spinster hiding money under the floorboards that saves the Featheringtons and accounts for their financial state.
The sisters even compare Penelope to aunt petunia when she expresses how she was fond of the old woman. Unlike petunia though, Pen actually was stacking them bills.
Anyway, just a little bit of writing I enjoyed!
