Any method of "half-legitimately" obtaining mew in FRLG?

So Im in the process of completing a living dex for the original 151 and I have completed all the firered 'mons i can get, so gonna start LG. Just wondering, is there a way to get mew without just using PKHX or something? Like possibly being able to emulate a event distribution on PC or something? I would prefer to get it as legitimately "as possible", that being; not just generating it and pasting a mew into my pc box.

any help?
