Fan made plant: Powerlime

Powerlime is a plant introduced in version ?.?.? of Plants vs. Zombies 2. It was introduced as a Seasons exclusive plant, and was unlockable with 100 Powerlime seed packets.

Powerlime emits a damaging electrical field in a radius depending on its level, and can combine with other Powerlimes within range to compound their total damage.

Origin

Powerlime is a portmanteau of "lime", one of several species within the genus Citrus, and "powerline", a cable carrying electricity, referencing Powerlime's ability to conduct a current across a network. "Power" also references their method of attack, which is with electricity.

Almanac entry

Powerlime

Sun cost: 200

Recharge: Mediocre

Toughness: Typical

Plant food power: Damage

Damage: Escalating (20)

Range: 3x3 (cross)

Family: Fila-Mint

Powerlimes emit an electrical field around them, dealing damage to zombies

Powerlime is the natural evolution of the high-school lemon-battery experiment. Genetically engineered from a Florida Key lime, he is the future of green, endlessly renewable energy...if only Big Oil would stop trying to shut down the research.

OR

Powerlime likes to network. He likes to share. He likes to share movies, MP3s, and software with his buddies. He uses Limewire.

Upgrades

Plant food effect

When fed plant food, Powerlime will appear to pull lightning from the sky, then zap all zombies on the board (similarly to Fila-Mint's attack) with 100 DPS per second for 3 seconds, plus 1 second for every additional Powerlime within the network. For example, 5 Powerlimes = 100 DPS x (3s + 4s) = 700 DPS total to all zombies on the board.

Fila-Mint effect

When boosted by Fila-Mint, Powerlime will have an additional ? DPS (per Powerlime) added to their main attack and an additional ? DPS added to their Plant Food ability. Their attack/network range will also increase to the maximum 5x5 square.

Level upgrades

As Powerlime is levelled up, its attacking damage increases, as well as its effective radius (the radius at which it attacks zombies, as well as reaches other Powerlimes to form a network). The radii are: 3x3 cross (3x3 square without corners), 3x3 square, 5x5 diamond (3x3 square plus one on each side), and 5x5 square.

Strategies

By itself, a single Powerlime deals unimpressive damage, approximately similar to that of a Peashooter. It is also quite expensive and slow to recharge. Its true strength lies in how linking multiple Powerlimes in a network compounds the damage inflicted. Thus, it is always advisable to plant as many as possible close to each other in order to inflict maximum damage. A good strategy is to set up a "bank" of Powerlimes in the rear columns of your lawn, then planting a line of Powerlimes along the 2nd and 4th rows, to provide heavy damage while minimizing the "footprint" edible to zombies. Planting Garlic or Sweet Potatoes to divert zombies away from the Powerlime rows creates a nearly impervious offense line.

Pay attention to its range, for example at Level 1 or 2, two Powerlimes planted diagonally to each other will not form a network unless another is planted adjacent to both, however from Level 3 and upward they will.

Trivia

Powerlime's appearance is based on a lime, with colors drawn from other electric plants such as Fila-Mint.

His stem is located in an anatomically incorrect position compared to a real lime.

The two ceramic insulator disks on his stem are based on those on a real electric pole.

His eyes and mouth resemble a standard North American electrical outlet.
