Lot of heat coming through especially on relights?

I noticed that on the initial light I’m fine and can control the temperature, but on relights I’ll often get too much heat on my tongue (almost like eating slightly too hot pizza but not straight out of the oven) even when drawing on very gently.

Is this normal? Did I pack too loosely?
