question regarding HI3 and the whole “ expy “ thing

Does it actually matter? Just a few days ago I mentioned not shipping phainon and Cyrene ( forgot how it even turned into an issue with me not shipping them because the conversation was initially about his hair xd ) because I don’t know what she’s like or have any interactions between them, however, my mutual was saying that they’re literally married in HI3 so I was wondering if that actually matters? Because if so, that’s kind of annoying. I can’t seem to like certain characters without the HI3 fanbase being upset about stuff like that.
