Good time to hop in?

Played PoE 1 since it's beta times with tons of pauses. Most of the leagues I was able to hit mid tier maps then quit. Most of the times I complained about not knowing most of the league mechanics/crafting. Now there is a chance I can buy early access and hop in from the start but I am not sure if the time is right or if the game is too complex. What should I do?
