Crossbow reload jamming?

When I fire Explosive Shot, or some other single load ammunition, the reload sometimes makes a click sound several times (1-5, sometimes taking seconds) before the reload occurr, effectively feeling like the crossbow is jammed.

Is weapon jamming a feature in the game or is this a bug?

Edit: It is like if the Fire button can interrupt reload. Really disruptive for gameplay.

Edit2: It seems like when controller auto targeting is swapping targets, reload is interrupted.
