The Laptop Deal That Almost Scammed Me Back to Reality
I was scrolling through Facebook Marketplace when I spotted a Lenovo Legion 7 for Rs. 90,000. Specs? Ryzen 5800H, RTX 3070, 32GB RAM. It looked way too good to be true, but a small part of me really wanted it to be real—especially since my laptop was recently stolen.
I messaged the seller, and he asked me to continue the conversation on WhatsApp. The guy was polite and said he’d ship the laptop first so I could check it before paying the full amount. All I needed to cover was Rs. 2000 for shipping and insurance. Against my better judgment, I sent it, hoping for the best.
Soon after, the seller started asking me to pay 25% of the laptop’s price upfront, claiming he was in a tough spot. This didn’t sit right with me, especially since he was the one who suggested payment after delivery. When I pushed back, he kept insisting, but I decided to cut my losses and stop responding.
Moral of the story: If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I lost Rs. 2000 but learned a valuable lesson. Stay sharp, folks—scammers are everywhere.
