Saying Luffy isn’t fighting Akainu shouldn’t be such a hated take
Alright let’s get it straight, is it a possible fight? Yes. But does it fit into the story how oda wants it? No. Luffy had trauma about aces death even the thought of it, but that was about 500-600 chapters ago. He’s grown so much since then and doesn’t react to the thought the way he used to. People think that when luffy sees Akainu he’s gonna have a heart attack and enter gear 5 demon mode, he’s not. He’s going to see him and not fight him to show how much stronger he has became, he’s will know that he’s stronger than him and won’t even waste his time fighting. That’s my little headcanon. But really Dragon and Sabo both narratively have just as much of a reason to deal with Akainu. Dragon only because Akainu is a fanboy and hates him more than anyone. And Sabo because there’s the Ace revenge plot line with his own fruit that got overpowered.
