Recent Tracker Electricity Prices

I'm getting a bit concerned because the Octopus Tracker price for electricity has been more expensive than the UK price cap for 2 weeks now. Before I switched to the Tracker Tariff (October 2024) I checked all the previous prices going back to when the Tracker Tariff was first offered and didn't see anything like the spikes in prices that have appeared recently. Is this because of a volatile energy market at the moment, or because the formulae for each successive Tracker Tariff has got steadily worse for the customer? I can only hope that the summer pricing will offset the recent very expensive electric costs.
