How do asian people cook their rice?

I'm latino, so in my country we also eat a lot of rice, and for some reason I totally hated rice; the flavor was disgusting, the texture, everything. Even when other people prepared it, it was awful

However, at university I have some asian friends and sometimes we go to asian restaurants and their rice is always so good; sometimes it's seasoned, sometimes it's plain, but its SO good

I took a friend from my home country to one of these places and ordered plain rice to accompany the food and she hated it because it was "too plain" but I absolutely loved it like every time

Is it the way they prepare it? How can I achieve good rice? Is it the grain? I know it's unseasoned rice so what could be different?

Thank you
