Would you have the courage to buy a beautiful house that’s now cheap because a crime was committed there?
I came across this house for sale in a really nice neighborhood that used to belong to a serial killer—the guy who murdered his pregnant wife and two daughters. It’s super luxurious and listed at a great price, which got me thinking: what would it be like to live in a place where such a horrific crime happened?
Honestly, I can’t shake the feeling that living in that house would be absolutely horrific. I don’t believe in ghosts or anything like that, but the fact that such a terrible crime was committed there—children lost their lives—really weighs on me. I think I’d start having nightmares just thinking about living there; it honestly freaks me out.
Some crimes truly terrify me. For example, the Jodi Arias case, where she stabbed her boyfriend in the bathroom and took pictures of him just seconds before killing him. Then there’s Jeffrey Dahmer, who brought his victims home before committing his horrific acts. I’m also thinking about that case of a mother—I can’t recall her name—who killed her children and hid their bodies in a freezer. There’s also the case of Katherine Knight, who brutally killed her husband and then cooked his body parts in a pressure cooker.
How could I even use the kitchen without thinking about something like that?
And recently, there’s the chilling story of a British woman who murdered her parents and lived with their bodies for over four years.
Just imagining these crimes, it would be horrifying to even consider buying a house where something like that happened. I don’t know, maybe I’m overreacting, but the thought really gets to me.
Anyway, I’d love to hear your opinions: would you have the courage to buy a beautiful house being sold at a bargain price because of a crime that occurred there?
