Robert Carson turns 35 today. A lefty reliever, he was drafted by the Mets in the 14th round of the 2007 draft. He debuted on May 18, 2012 for the Mets against the Blue Jays and last pitched in the majors in August 28, 2013. After the Mets, he bounced around to the Angels, Dodgers, foreign leagues and spent several years in the Atlantic League. He last pitched for Lexington Legends in 2021. Robert Carson is currently the pitching coach for the Charleston Dirty Birds of the Atlantic League.
Bob Moorhead was born on this date in 1938. Charles Robert Moorhead was a right-handed reliever who played for the New York Mets in 1962 and 1965. He spent the first five seasons of his professional career in the minors with the Reds and the Mets snapped him up in the Rule 5 draft in 1961. He retired from baseball in 1966 and died in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania, at age 48.
