As a parent, should one allow a 10-year old daughter to start a YouTube channel?
To give you some context, I’m a reclusive parent myself and have apparently seen similar traits in my child as well, but would hate for her to grow up like I did (shy and reclusive), although I adapted to the changing world and I’m more of an ambivert and have been able to do pretty well for myself (despite not being on any of the social platforms), but I would not want my child to grow up and feel that we didn’t do enough for her and limited her social presence, while her peer group may have gained significant following or presence on these platforms. I’m wondering: 1) Would it be safe for tweens to start their own channel? 2) Would it affect their self esteem because of the ever-growing hatred and trolls online? 3) Would it be worth helping her start a YouTube channel, faceless or with face? 4) With faceless, it may not be the best idea given the anonymity factor (although I would prefer faceless but the end goal is for her to feel comfortable amongst her future friends in high school and college)
As you may have guessed it by now, I’m baffled as hell and therefore turning to you for some genuine advice.
Thanks!
